What is Single Sign On?

Permanently deleted user -

The LeadingRE Access/Institute Member User Management Web Service has been developed as a next generation single-sign-on (SSO) mechanism for LeadingRE member real estate firms, as well as a means to keep staff rosters up-to-date with the LeadingRE Extranets. The User Management Service allows for Security Token Authentication to the applications Access and Institute sites. Additionally, user accounts can be created, modified, and disabled remotely through the web service implementation. A standard SOAP protocol web service securely exposes a number of methods for user management for use by member firms.

There are two ways for member companies to facilitate their agents and staff SSO login to Access/Institute systems.

1. Google Apps Single Sign On (SSO), If you utilize Google Apps as your company domain, you have the ability to setup your users using SSO within this app. This setup is very simple and if you Submit a Request, we would be happy to help with this process. Additionally, you can use this article: SSO Integration using Google Apps, as a resource for the setup process.

2. Token Authentication, is a web-service driven system for SSO as well as user creation, management, and removal. This option requires substantially more tech overhead initially, but requires less data entry over time and eliminates the administrative burden of maintaining users across two systems (Intranet and Access/Institute) since user management can be synchronized. A primary driver of the Token Authentication design is its enhanced security over the Basic SSO, which is a bit more transparent in its operation. Token Authentication operates as a server ‘handshake’ and ensures users are active and synced between systems before allowing them in.

If interested in Token SSO method, please give the attached Member Authentication Service Guide to your company IT or web hosting provider. If you have additional questions, or would like to coordinate a call for more details, please Submit a request to start implementing the SSO feature.
